Background Investigations

There are many reasons for background investigations. The most common known reasons being pre-employment/resume validation and security clearance. But that is mostly for the corporate or government environment. The general public can also benefit from the use background investigations to check out potential child care providers or potential spouses or partners and more. Most Private Investigators have access to databases not available to public. However many do not have the capability to follow up leads or concerns with "boots on the ground" through interviews or records retrieval. For instance, an Investigator may be able to run database searches, but many times the results of those database searches require follow interviews or the retrieval of court records. If an investigator is not experienced and specializes in taking statements and/or conducting interrogations, vital information might be missed. What if you hire a local agency but in order to complete a thorough background investigation, statements, interviews or interrogations must be conducted in another state? Do they have established relationships with experienced, vetted, investigators who specialize in statement and interviews in that locale? With The Intelligence Community, LLC's global network we have experienced investigators who are trained to find the information required for our clients to make educated decision concerning their business or family.

A perfect, and admittedly extreme, example of failure to mitigate a threat through the hiring process is the Naval Yard shooter. The hiring contract and the government/military are now exposed to tremendous liability. While the shooter held a clearance, he demonstrated a propensity towards violence, having been charged in two separate incidents involving weapons.

The President of the contracting company told the Washing Post "We would not have hired him if we had known about his past."
